Team training, Hurley and a birthday party!

Team Training

A couple of weekends ago we had our last GB team training event at Nottingham before the official European team training starts. The feature was finally ready, and was a lot better than it had been. Most hole moves are now possible, although some are difficult, with right hand cartwheels/moves being easy and left hand moves a bit more flushy. Thankfully it is a lot more consistent than before. I still prefer the muncher though, and obviously it is not as good as Hurley :)

Talking of which…

The driest 18 months for 75 years has been followed by the wettest May for 23 years. So whilst the rest of the population is grumbling at yet another miserable bank holiday weekend, the paddlers are grinning and heading off to rivers around the country or to Hurley. Unfortunately a few too many fair-weather boaters have headed to Hurley, resulting in huge queues of 20 + people. Luckily I have mainly been able to get there before the queues have arrived, as school finishes a while before the majority of working people can get there. I think, by Wednesday, the eddy had reached critical mass and had put people off going, meaning by Thursday only the brave were out and the queue was relatively small. The sun is now shining – back to summer paddling in a few days I guess.

30th Birthday!

It’s official, I’m finally getting old(er). 23rd May was my 30th Birthday. We had a bit of a party at a friends’ house on Saturday night. Thanks for the Birthday cake and party fish!

This tiny kayaker is just about to get munched... (literally :))
