Summer Holidays are here

Last week saw the last day of term. Hooray! 6 weeks of holiday. 1 week already gone - arrggggh.
My plans? No major boating plans, I was toying with the idea of heading out to Canada for a couple of weeks but, due to no cheap flights at the right time, it's not going to happen. So, it looks like a few days here and there at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham. Plus a few days on a mighty adventure with smallest Robin and friends: a short trip out to France, utilising some free ferry tickets. The aim: to go paddle Lyon, which unfortunately doesn't run very often in August, so the reality: probably sat in numerous cafes and pootle down Bourg St Maurice a couple of times. Should be fun though and it will at least relieve us of British Boredom for a weekend!

Also, Cam and I are planning to learn to outdoor climb. A week up in N.Wales climbing and biking in mid-August.

The rest of the time? A few days at Boulters and of course the dreaded planning of lessons for the new term in September!

I went up to Nottingham last week for a couple of days at HPP, I was trying out my new Crazy 88, which has finally arrived. It was very different to the Kingpin 6.1. I liked the extra volume, but not around the knees as this made it hard to initiate, I also found the back end caught really quickly. I was getting some big air for loops, though, but I need practice in the timing of the body-throw. I think it will be a good boat once I get used to it, it seems fast and I can't wait to get it onto a wave as this is what it was primarily designed for. For selections though, I will probably stick to the Kingpin as I'm not going to have much chance getting used to the '88 before September.

Happy summer paddling!
